These flash cards are a great tool to assist children in recognising what emotions look like. The cards can be used as a matching activity or can be used to recognise what an emotion looks like. The flash cards can either be laminated individually or can be cut out and glued back to back with the corresponding card and then laminated, depending on how you wish to use the flash cards.
These cards can be used during a mat session to demonstrate the different emotions, by encouraging the children to imitate the emotion.
They can also be used as an early finisher activity, requiring the children to match the image to the written emotion. This would suit an older age group that are capable of reading.
These cards could also be used to play Snap, if you print the image pages twice and laminate.
This resource makes up part of the overall Your Teacher’s Pet Creature Emotional Regulation approach to introducing self-regulation skills. While it works great on its own we always recommend pairing it with a Your Teacher's Pet Creature and our other related resources.
